These short, usually one-hour online webinars are aimed at health and social-care practitioners, volunteers and professionals who want to understand and support clients and service users from a trauma aware perspective. The sessions will introduce basic trauma-informed concepts and principles to help create psychologically safe working environments and introduce effective, evidence-based approaches and practices. With an emphasis on how stress can be stored in our nervous system, and how sensory experiencing can help and/or hinder our overall sense of wellbeing, the webinar will introduce strategies for helping release past tensions and generate healthy new ways to respond to significant challenges in life.
Developing trauma informed approaches
This interactive workshop will help coaches, counsellors and mental health practitioners develop a trauma informed approach in their work with clients. The workshop introduces contemporary research in the fields of applied neuroscience and somatic/embodied practices. Based on this research, a range of practical principles and strategies for implementing trauma informed approaches will be presented. This is combined with insights into how more traditional ‘eastern’ philosophies can also be integrated into these approaches. Delegates will be invited to discuss their learning throughout, with a view to applying it immediately within their own settings.
